- Why can't I connect to websites (I can get to the GloryWorks' website, but nothing else)?
This is most likely because the proxy (filter) settings are not entered or correct. To setup the proxy, please see our proxy instructions page.
- Why can't I get to any page, not even to GloryWorks' website?
This could be a number of different things. Depending on the settings, you could possibly not be connected (look for the two small blinking computer monitors on the right bottom of your computer screen - that indicates you are connected). There could also be a problem with your modem - see our FAQs on Modem and Dial-Up.
- Is Gloryworks my browser?
No, Gloryworks is not your browser. The two, most commonally-used browsers are: Netscape's Navigator and MicroSoft's Internet Explorer. We give you the Internet service or connection, but you still need a browser, like one of the above, to see web pages and surf the web. We are like the phone company who gives you phone service, but you still need a phone (a browser) to make calls. Browsers are free, and Netscape is included on our CD.
- Why do I get this error message: "The request cannot proceed because WebSENSE
could not resolve the host name" ?
The majority of time this means you are trying to request a page that does not exist. For example, if I see an advertisement that says go to my web page www.somethinghere.com, it does not mean that it really exists yet. Often people will advertise a web site before it is actually online. Also, you could have simply entered the address incorrectly.
This also can mean that the DNS (Domain Name Server) is not working for that site. On the
Internet, servers can go down or become a block to the transmission. The problem could be anywhere along the Internet path; it could mean that the servers where you are trying to connect are down, or there is a problem somewhere along the Internet line or network.
